Rapper Juicy J, co-founder of Memphis group Three 6 Mafia, is going to dish up more than just the hits on his upcoming tour. Juicy J — whose real name is Jordan Michael Houston — proclaimed that he will throw out samples of his signature weed strain Green Suicide to crowds.
Juicy J, who said clouds of smoke are common at his California shows, said that only crowds in states where recreational marijuana is legal will get the party favors.
“I’ve been out all over, (California crowds) always turn up, there’s a lot of weed smoke and people are ready to go,” Juicy J said in an interview with the Cannifornian.
His current California dates include stops at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco Feb. 2, the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on Feb. 3, the Hollywood Palladium Feb. 4 and the House of Blues in San Diego on Feb. 8. The tour also features up-and-coming Canadian rapper Belly and Juicy J’s long-time collaborator Project Pat.
Green Suicide, which was released in fall 2016 by Crown Genetics, is a sativa that’s available at several dispensaries in Southern California.
Juicy J — who frequently talks about weed in his songs — gives the strain his stamp of approval.
“You gotta smoke that … man, it takes you straight to the moon,” Juicy J said. “It’s a cheaper way to go to the moon.”
Juicy J isn’t the only rapper to capitalize on the marijuana industry. Compton’s The Game released his strain “Trees by Game” in the fall, and Juicy J’s frequent collaborator Wiz Khalifa has his own hybrid strain called “Khalifa Kush” as well as other branded products.
Juicy J said he wanted his strain to have a name that would excite stoners. With a name like Green Suicide, he said, you know it will be powerful.
“It won’t kill you, but it’s a good strain,” Juicy J said.
