Jam band heroes Slightly Stoopid are celebrating the growing marijuana legalization movement by going where no band has gone before: They’re pressing records on $6,000 worth of hash.
Billboard first reported on the unique effort to press the band’s song “Dabbington” into the pricey pot — actually bubble hash, in case you were wondering, which turns to a bubbly resin when heated.
“It’s all about putting two old-school vintage mediums together,” Jon Phillips of Silverback Music told Billboard. “Vinyl is an old-school medium, and that’s how we feel about hashish, too.”
The first attempt, which cost $1,000 to produce, was listenable, but Billboard says that “office potheads” slowly found alternate uses for small pieces of the record. A second try yielded “questionable audio”; another attempt is planned for early this year.
The band also plans to market branded bubble hash to dispensaries, with a some of the proceeds donated to cancer research.
