Far and away the most overhyped prizefight in recent years, the Mayweather-McGregor bout began to fray the nerves of some fight fans weeks before the August 26h pay-per-view Money Fight in Las Vegas. It had been almost two years since Floyd Mayweather Jr. last fought anyone, but even a mixed-martial arts master like Conor McGregor was widely and incessantly regarded as a walkover, so the hype started early and grew ever louder.

Mayweather’s perfect record of 50 fights, 50 wins and 27 by knockout is impressive by any standard, yet at my nearest local dispensary, all this pugilistic glory rated was a skimpy underpriced gram of O.G. dank. Flyweight in measure, this alleged indica is a punch in the throat to toke but in the end failed to go the psychoactive distance with my Three Hit Test.

Bum-of-the month weed like this was the bane of every decent pothead back when the stuff shipped in no-name bricks from the hinterlands and I wouldn’t even recommend it for your Granny’s arthritis; no, not even if she used to do hits out of empty Double Cola cans back when Ford was a president. Curiously enough, the same dispensary offers a Conor McGregor strain at fifteen bucks per, making this street index of the worth of Mayweather’s celebrated punch a thing of small consequence indeed.
