The Relax formula has passionflower, which helps with overthinking, anxiety, and insomnia, as well as soothe upset tummies and nerve pain. Other herbal stars of the show include raspberry leaf, motherwort and cramp bark – all natural muscle relaxants. According to Whoopi & Maya’s head herbalist/wizard-in-residence Alexis Gandara, “Willow bark has been used for thousands of years to calm inflammation and quell pain.” St. John’s wort, chamomile, and a combination of essential oils round out this tincture’s natural mood-elevating effects, which is a crucial part of feeling well.
The tincture is set in a honey-alcohol base softened with elderberry. Though I personally don’t love the slight burn of an alcohol base, it does make it fast-acting. However, if you’re sensitive to an alcohol base, do mix it in some water or juice. I had half a dropperful under my tongue, and in about 20 minutes, felt the relaxing effects begin.
There is some gentle psychoactivity. Whoopi & Maya uses a low heat extraction process and full spectrum cannabis in their products, so there is THC in the mix here. While there is no exact ratio listed, I would compare Relax’s effects to other 3:1 or 1:1 THC: CBD tinctures I’ve tried. If you are sensitive to THC, I’d save this tincture for your downtime.
